Introduction

Where we are at

During the last few years technology has become increasingly important in our school. We have come a long way by offering educators and students digital teaching and learning opportunities while attempting to achieve a more equitable access to technology for everyone. Teachers are able to request training sessions whenever they need to, and our team of digital coaches is available to support teachers in each section.

What we do

What we do

As an IB school, ICT is considered a literacy across the PYP, MYP and the Diploma. As of right now, all Anglo students have access to a variety of digital technology resources. Students use iPads from Preschool to Grade 7, and starting in Grade 8, they can choose and bring to school the device they want. Teachers are expected to use the equipment provided by the school, as well as integrate digital learning into their planning and daily lessons according to the grade they teach in.

Apple Platform

At the Anglo we use Apple devices (iPad, MacBook Pro, iMac and AppleTV) in an effort to ensure a flexible and collaborative student-centered learning environment.

With iPads, students have access to a variety of tools to learn on their own, including state-of-the-art educational apps designed exclusively for the mobile experience.

Some or a good amount of experience with the Apple Ecosystem is highly recommended if you are a teacher at the Anglo. Feel free to join our Google Classroom Module: Apple First Steps. All you need is your Gmail account.

The integration of all our online services to Google’s G Suite for Education platform has made a world of a difference in the way teachers and students work and collaborate at the Anglo.

Google Drive and Team Drive are used to store and share documentation, most of it developed with Google Slides, Docs and Sheets. Google Classroom is our virtual classroom from Grade 3 to Grade 11. We also use Google Hangouts to communicate, and Google Keep to have notes and thoughts always handy.

Teachers are encouraged to use well-known Youtube channels alongside with platforms like Edpuzzle to better manage online videos and ensure an environment of digital safety in the classroom. Previous experience with Google apps is highly recommended. Get trained or become a Google Certified Educator right now!

In Preschool iPads are located in portable carts, and there is 1 iPad available every 4 kids. Each class has a dedicated iPad. Teachers integrate iPads into their everyday learning lessons depending on each Unit of Inquiry. Students are encouraged to make their own digital portfolios in SeeSaw.

In Primary, iPads are readily available in lessons. In Grades 3 and 4 each student has his/her own iPad assigned, while in Grades 1 and 2 there is 1 iPad every 2 students. Each teacher also has a school-assigned iPad and they are expected to monitor student activities during lessons using the Apple Classroom app.

Digital Access

Middle School students (Grades 5 to 7) bring their own iPads and the IT department manages app downloads and deployment. Teachers in these grades are expected to create an array of digital assessments and activities to ensure students learn the digital skills in the ICT Scope and Sequence. Teachers are expected to use digital devices efficiently to impact both teaching and learning processes. They should also use Apple Classroom to monitor student activities during lessons.

By using my own device, I can keep track of my work in different subjects without uploading or sending files"

High School students (Grades 8 to 11) bring their own devices. Technology is used widely in the various departments for a variety of classroom projects. As teachers grow on their confidence towards technology, more digital assessments are being planned and integrated into the units, making it possible for the ICT curriculum to get mapped across the units.

I already know how to use my own device, and I use

time better in class. Full access to the school's online services

has also been very positive"

With such access to powerful digital resources, a safe environment focused on meaningful learning must be guaranteed.

YouTube playlists should be used in order to ensure control over videos being played during lessons.

Teachers must fully know and understand the Acceptable Use Policy, as well as be aware of age restrictions in some platforms.

DIGITAL

LEARNING

Several approaches to digital learning are being currently explored at the Anglo by integrating the ICT curriculum directly into the units. Digital assessments planned to clearly address and identify specific digital skills for students to learn should be performed.

By connecting key concepts to digital concepts into everyday learning lessons we ensure there is an effective acknowledgment of the literacy students need as citizens in a global society of the 21st Century.
