Beyond a digital device's "look and feel" there is the concept behind the design. This is what allows us to use it in a simple and flexible way. The Apple Macs were the first computers with a graphic interphase, a revolutionary idea in its time. It basically allowed users to control everything with a "mouse" and a small pointer on the screen, pretty much like the index finger. Digital devices have come a long way since then.

 

As a teacher I believe that Apple technology offers a set of integrated tools that simply make every day tasks easy. I've been able to create quality teaching materials for my lessons and my professional portfolio.

 

Today we have the opportunity of integrating multiple devices which gives us even more possibilities and we don't even need to depend on one brand or the other or on any platform. However, there are tools developed by Apple that are a perfect match to content-creation and innovative projects, something we should see in school everyday.

 

As closing note, the impact digital devices may have in the classroom have little to do with the brand. It has everything to do with the way we choose to design instruction, the time we devote to teach how to think and understand, more than just rote practice. It's more about using digital technology to create innovative digital objects, and having a positive impact in the school community.
