ISTE(1) Empowered Learner

Should be proficient in previous skills/concepts, plus:

  • Installs and updates free-school related apps on personal devices.

  • Performs periodical revisions of personal devices using an utility app/program.

  • Keeps devices synchronized.

  • Connects devices using wireless and wired options.

  • Uses the Chrome web store.

  • Manages the App Store with responsibility

  • Downloads/installs free useful learning resources (e-books, apps, etc.)

  • Shares files via airdrop/other bluetooth options.

  • Creates PDF documents merging pages from different documents.

2. Communicating: Text and Images

ISTE(6) Creative Communicator

Should be proficient in previous skills/concepts, plus:

  • Manages templates effectively in different productivity apps/programs.

  • Creates website-style documents using GAFE and iWork apps/programs

  • Creates websites in Google Sites.

  • Creates presentations for desktop/mobile devices.

  • Develops materials to support presentations.

  • Manages text effectively in any app/program.

  • Uses spreadsheet toolbars/functions in word processing/presentation apps/programs.

  • Personalizes toolbars in different apps/programs.

  • Manages effectively lists and paragraphs in different apps/programs.

  • Creates/manages presentations using the outline view.

Digital images, CAD:

  • Uses rulers/guides in different apps/programs.

  • Differences between bitmap and vector images

  • Manages the work area in a CAD program or photo editing app.

  • Manipulates brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, etc.

  • Use layers and masks to edit an image.

  • Applies filters and effects using a professional photo editing app.

  • Combines two or more images by using cropping and correcting tools.

  • Manages size, quality and resolution when exporting images.

  • Identifies the basic interface tools in a vector illustration app.

  • Creates shapes using vectors ans anchor points.

  • Uses nodes and anchor points to edit vector shapes.

  • Exports vector images according to output.

3. Communicating:

ISTE(6) Creative Communicator

Should be proficient in previous skills/concepts, plus:

  • Adds special visual and sound effects into video/animation.

  • Manages multiple frames and chroma key effects.

  • Finds and tests apps/programs to convert video/audio to different formats.

  • Manages effectively a Youtube channel for school-related projects.

  • Creates and shares digital art.

  • Uses different selection tools in a graphic app/program.

  • Corrects photos using advanced editing tools in Graphic apps/programs.

  • Assembles photos using layers and advanced tools.

  • Applies graphic design principles to create effective presentations (balance, contrast, emphasis).

  • Uses offline options in presentation webapps.

4. Data and information

ISTE(4) Knowledge Constructor

Should be proficient in previous skills/concepts, plus:

  • Collects data using video/audio logs.

  • Transcripts data for futher analysis.

  • Creates databases according to need.

  • Indexes and organises records on a database.

  • Defines search criteria on a database.

  • Creates placeholders (text and media) in a word processing app/programs.

  • Creates databases using word processing apps/programs.

  • Creates complex rubrics and tables, and sets them up properly according to output.

  • Views database information in different forms.

  • Exports PDF/Document annotations in different formats.

  • Uses dynamic graphs.

  • Understand the graph as a tool for representing problem states and solutions to complex problems.*

  • Understand the fundamental ideas of logic and its usefulness for solving real-world problems.*

5. Computational thinking and programming

ISTE(5) Computational Thinker

Computing

Computing is about developing hardware and software solutions.

Should be proficient in previous skills/concepts, plus:

  • Designs simulations to understand/teach topic(s).

  • Develops representation(s) of the real world problems, systems, or situations.

  • Categorizes information/data visually using concept maps.

  • Connects text/graphic boxes in a concept map.

  • Modifies links in a concept map app/program.

  • Creates concept maps based on outlines.

  • Decomposes a problem into sub-problems to solve it.

  • Includes variables and user interaction in simulations.

  • Understands algorithms and its uses.

  • Discuss how a single problem may be solved by several different algorithms

  • Knows how to write executable programs in at least one language.

  • Understands how computers represent data.

  • Knows the main components that make up a computer system, and how they fit together (their architecture).

  • Understands the principles underlying how data is transported on the Internet.

6. Digital citizenship

ISTE(2) Digital citizen

  • Uses the school account complying with the AUP in place.

  • Manages time effectively when using iPad apps.

  • Creates calendars, events, reminders using calendar apps.

  • Creates shared calendars.

  • Find solutions to common problems and supports others.

  • Respects teacher-given guidelines on iPad use.

  • Productive when using digital technology in learning settings.

  • Uses common sense and care when using shared/school/personal devices.

  • Discuss the benefits, limitations and risks of social networks.

  • Utilize reliable web sites along with Internet safety rules.

  • Cares for technology elements in classrooms.

  • Develops projects in collaboration with peers (school or outside).

  • Devices are ready to use in every lesson.

  • Keeps track of shared files use.

  • Uses school account only in authorised-educational platforms.

  • Sets up and manages effectively a Youtube Channel.

  • Keeps school video material separate from personal one, managing accounts effectively.

  • Manages effectively Privacy Settings on his/her videos uploaded to Youtube complying with the AUP in place.

  • Evaluate the accuracy, relevance and bias of internet information sources.

7. Long life learning and problem solving

ISTE (7) Global Collaborator

  • Uses online courses to learn independently (Moocs, iTunesU, KhanAcademy, etc.)

  • Apply strategies for identifying and solving
    routine hardware and software problems that
    occur during everyday use.*

  • Demonstrate knowledge of current changes
    in information technologies and the effects those changes have on the workplace and society.*

  • Uses help, tutorials and visual guides to explore and learn new apps.

  • Keeps up to date with updates and how fixes and changes lead to better productivity.

  • Transfers what he/she already knows to learn new digital technologies.

  • Uses online courses to learn independently (Moocs, iTunesU, KhanAcademy, etc.)

  • Knows how and where to find learning resources and strategies.
