  • Uses search engines efficiently and effectively.

  • Uses keyboard functions and shortcuts to improve productivity.

  • Modifies hardware system preferences in the computer.

  • Joins a class and follows a stream in Google Classroom.

ISTE(6) Creative Communicator

  • Explains what makes a good advertisement. Makes a list of criteria for a successful advert.

  • Creates a list of criteria for a successful advertisement.

  • Trims sounds and layer with sound effects.

  • Records audio and imports into appropriate software.

  • Reviews and enhances quality of audio.

  • Plans, scripts and rehearses a radio advertisement.

  • Discusses changes in audio technology over the years – vinyl and cassette (analogue), CD and mp3 (digital)

  • Shares audio projects in different formats according to output.

4. Data and information

ISTE(4) Knowledge Constructor

  • Explores the functions that are available to improve how searches are completed.

  • Discusses the difference between mobile, physical and wireless networks.

  • Discusses the difference between the internet and World Wide Web.

  • Uses several different search engines (e.g. Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go) to search for the same thing.

  • Investigates about Help, Search Tips, Advanced Search link and Search Operators to learn about the special features of each search engine.

  • Investigates how websites are ranked by search engines.

5. Computational thinking and programming

ISTE(5) Computational Thinker

  • Explains the relationship between inputs and outputs in a physical computer

  • Explains key parts of a computer (inputs and outputs).

  • Explains how computers process data by taking an input and doing something with it to produce an output.

  • Identifies the main components of a iPad/computer.

  • Discusses sensors (heat, colour, touch etc).

  • Explains what an operating system is (e.g. Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, Android)?

  • Describes a physical system with an input and output using an algorithm (flowchart).

  • Explores a real application of inputs and outputs in Flowol.

  • Researches about the history of computers.

  • Creates a timeline showing understanding of the history of information technology.

6. Digital citizenship

ISTE(2) Digital citizen

  • Discusses safe ways to use the Internet.

  • Discusses the validity of information and the rights of the author and user.

  • Explains why copyright is important.

  • Participates in group activiities to discuss the responsible use of information.

  • Explores examples of unreliable information in the Web. ("All about explorers" and the "Tree Octopuss").

  • Understands what to do if information on the Internet is harmful or wrong.

  • Explains what happens to a picture once is posted online, using role play.

  • Works collaboratively with other students in ICT processes.
